{"apiVersion":"1.0","identifier":"CVE-2026-78465","description":"A flaw was found in the file-pcx plugin in GIMP, affecting 32-bit builds only. When processing a PCX image file, the plugin calculates memory allocation sizes based on the image dimensions and the number of color planes. If a crafted file sets the number of planes to 4 alongside sufficiently large dimensions, the calculation exceeds the 32-bit integer limit and overflows, resulting in an undersized heap-based buffer allocation. This integer overflow issue results in a heap-based buffer overflow when the plugin subsequently writes image data into the undersized buffer, causing memory corruption, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution or a denial of service.","publishedAt":"2026-08-24T17:18:20","lastModifiedAt":"2026-08-25T14:16:56","sourceUrl":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-78465","cvssScore":7,"cvssVector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","epssProbability":0.00137,"riskScore":0.71,"affectedProduct":"GIMP","affectedVersions":"unknown","vulnerabilityType":"Other","operatingSystems":[],"links":{"self":"https://www.redsauce.net/api/cves/CVE-2026-78465","webPages":{"es":"https://www.redsauce.net/es/cves/CVE-2026-78465","en":"https://www.redsauce.net/en/cves/CVE-2026-78465","fr":"https://www.redsauce.net/fr/cves/CVE-2026-78465","pt":"https://www.redsauce.net/pt/cves/CVE-2026-78465","de":"https://www.redsauce.net/de/cves/CVE-2026-78465","sk":"https://www.redsauce.net/sk/cves/CVE-2026-78465","el":"https://www.redsauce.net/el/cves/CVE-2026-78465"},"source":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-78465"}}
