{"apiVersion":"1.0","identifier":"CVE-2026-74720","description":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Preserve pointer state for commuted arithmetic When scalar += pointer is handled in adjust_ptr_min_max_vals(), the destination register inherits the pointer state from the source pointer. Copying only selected fields is fragile because pointer provenance is tracked by several bpf_reg_state fields. Use the caller-s temporary offset register to preserve the scalar operand while replacing the destination with the full pointer state. This preserves the frame number for PTR_TO_STACK registers and keeps parent identity fields consistent.","publishedAt":"2026-08-22T16:16:46","lastModifiedAt":"2026-08-25T06:18:57","sourceUrl":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-74720","cvssScore":7.8,"cvssVector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","epssProbability":0.00129,"riskScore":0.79,"affectedProduct":"Linux kernel","affectedVersions":"unknown","vulnerabilityType":"Kernel","operatingSystems":[],"links":{"self":"https://www.redsauce.net/api/cves/CVE-2026-74720","webPages":{"es":"https://www.redsauce.net/es/cves/CVE-2026-74720","en":"https://www.redsauce.net/en/cves/CVE-2026-74720","fr":"https://www.redsauce.net/fr/cves/CVE-2026-74720","pt":"https://www.redsauce.net/pt/cves/CVE-2026-74720","de":"https://www.redsauce.net/de/cves/CVE-2026-74720","sk":"https://www.redsauce.net/sk/cves/CVE-2026-74720","el":"https://www.redsauce.net/el/cves/CVE-2026-74720"},"source":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-74720"}}
