{"apiVersion":"1.0","identifier":"CVE-2026-74704","description":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: sch_cake: drop WARN_ON(1) for malformed packets in ACK filter The sch_cake ACK filter parses packets to find the TCP header and filter duplicated ACKs if the flow is backlogged. The parsing code contains a WARN_ON(1) which can be triggered by a malformed IP header in certain cases. Depending on the system configuration, this leads either to either spamming dmesg with warnings, or a panic if panic_on_warn is set. The code already correctly skips the offending packet in the branch that triggers the warning, so the WARN_ON itself doesn-t really serve any purpose. So just drop it altogether to avoid the inconvenient side effects.","publishedAt":"2026-08-22T16:16:45","lastModifiedAt":"2026-08-25T06:18:54","sourceUrl":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-74704","cvssScore":8.2,"cvssVector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:H","epssProbability":0.00443,"riskScore":0.85,"affectedProduct":"Linux kernel","affectedVersions":"unknown","vulnerabilityType":"Kernel","operatingSystems":[],"links":{"self":"https://www.redsauce.net/api/cves/CVE-2026-74704","webPages":{"es":"https://www.redsauce.net/es/cves/CVE-2026-74704","en":"https://www.redsauce.net/en/cves/CVE-2026-74704","fr":"https://www.redsauce.net/fr/cves/CVE-2026-74704","pt":"https://www.redsauce.net/pt/cves/CVE-2026-74704","de":"https://www.redsauce.net/de/cves/CVE-2026-74704","sk":"https://www.redsauce.net/sk/cves/CVE-2026-74704","el":"https://www.redsauce.net/el/cves/CVE-2026-74704"},"source":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-74704"}}
