{"apiVersion":"1.0","identifier":"CVE-2026-44256","description":"Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. From 4.4.0 until 4.14.6 and 5.0.0-beta2, api/api/middlewares.py decodes the Basic authentication username before credential validation and passes it to the access logger without neutralizing control characters. api/api/alogging.py interpolates that value into the plain-text API log. An unauthenticated attacker can include carriage returns or line feeds in the username to forge entries, obscure activity, or poison systems that consume the plain-text audit log. The JSON log format is not affected because JSON serialization escapes these characters. This issue is fixed in versions 4.14.6 and 5.0.0-beta2.","publishedAt":"2026-08-19T17:18:48","lastModifiedAt":"2026-08-19T19:17:16","sourceUrl":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-44256","cvssScore":5.3,"cvssVector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N","epssProbability":0.00287,"riskScore":0.54,"affectedProduct":"Wazuh","affectedVersions":">=4.4.0,<4.14.6,>=5.0.0-beta2","vulnerabilityType":"Web app","operatingSystems":[],"links":{"self":"https://www.redsauce.net/api/cves/CVE-2026-44256","webPages":{"es":"https://www.redsauce.net/es/cves/CVE-2026-44256","en":"https://www.redsauce.net/en/cves/CVE-2026-44256","fr":"https://www.redsauce.net/fr/cves/CVE-2026-44256","pt":"https://www.redsauce.net/pt/cves/CVE-2026-44256","de":"https://www.redsauce.net/de/cves/CVE-2026-44256","sk":"https://www.redsauce.net/sk/cves/CVE-2026-44256","el":"https://www.redsauce.net/el/cves/CVE-2026-44256"},"source":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-44256"}}
